Initial Consultation and Quoting

The first step is for our electric fence installation team to meet you at your property for a consultation. We’ll discuss your goals for increased security and timeline expectations. Then we take precise measurements of the area needing the fence so we can provide an accurate written quote. There is no obligation to choose us, but customers appreciate having a detailed quote in hand as they make their decision.

Permit Application

After you’ve approved the quote, our team submits the required permit application to the city building department on your behalf. We include all necessary maps, drawings and specifications in the application for efficient approval. Our decades of local experience allow us to steer the permit process smoothly.

Materials Delivery

While waiting for the permit, we order all the necessary electric fence materials specially configured for your install. We only use premium materials from trusted brands that are rugged enough to withstand the elements. The components are delivered onsite the day the crew arrives so they have everything they need at hand.

Site Preparation

To get started, our crew marks the fence boundary you confirmed with spray paint. Then we remove any trees, bushes or debris in the way of the trenching. The site is leveled and graded so there are no high points electricity could arc over. Prepping the site properly prevents many issues down the road.

Trenching the Boundary

Trenching is next. We dig a 6 inch trench following the spray painted boundary line. This trench will house the electric fence wiring running around the perimeter of the area. The depth sufficiently protects the wires from damage. At this stage we also install any driveway gates needed through the fence boundary.

Installing Posts and Rails

Post hole digging comes next to embed the sturdy metal posts that will hold the electric fence wires. We space the posts 8 to 10 feet apart for optimal stability. Then we attach the non-electrified horizontal rails to each post which prevent animals from pushing through and deforming the fence.

Running and Splicing the Wire

The final mechanical step is carefully running the electrified stainless steel wire through the posts and attaching them. These wires carry the current that alternates between hot and ground. We also install a lower non-electrified wire for resistance that the electricity can arc across. All wires are spliced and secured as we go to form a continuous electrified loop.

Installing the Charger

The electric fence charger we install generates the shock pulses sent through the buried wires. This commercial grade charger is designed for rugged outdoor use. We ensure it’s properly grounded and has power supplied to it. Settings are calibrated to deliver a strong but safe zap. The charger has a built in warning system if issues occur down the line.

Testing and Adjustments

Before turning the fence on, our electricians thoroughly test it using specialized equipment. We verify electricity flows properly through each section and fix any gaps found. Once powered on, we do another check walking the boundary while monitoring voltage output. More tweaks are made until voltage output is consistently within the safety target range.

Manuals, Warranty and Support

You receive operating manuals for the charger and other components installed on your fence. This includes troubleshooting advice to diagnose issues. We also discuss proper electric fence operation and maintenance with you. Our electric fences come with up to a 5 year installation warranty.
